Information for learners

SFJ Awards is part of the Workforce Development Trust, which also includes Skills for Justice and Skills for Health. We use our sector knowledge and experience to develop our qualifications, so as a learner you can feel assured that they meet the specific requirements of the sector in which you are working, or wish to work in.

When we develop a qualification, we make sure that:

  • Consultation is carried out with employers, assessment centres, training providers and the professional bodies which represent your sector. This ensures the qualification meets your needs as well as the requirements of your current or future employers.
  • Wherever possible we base our qualifications on National Occupational Standards (NOS), which ensures the qualification matches your job requirements.

SFJ Awards’ approved centres will help you decide which qualification is right for you. They will then work with you to develop an action plan and provide ongoing support while you are studying. To find out more about our approved centres, head to our Centre Directory.

Financial support

You may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.  Advanced Learner Loans are available to learners aged 19 or above for qualifications from Level 3 to Level 6 which meet the Education and Skills Funding Agency requirements. Loan eligibility doesn’t depend on your income and there are no credit checks. You will need to check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Details of the qualifications approved for Loans are available in the Advanced Learner Loans Qualifications Catalogue. To find out more, visit the Education and Skills Funding Agency website, or to apply for a loan, use the Government’s online application process here.
